they just cannot accept that we can lead productive, successful, HAPPY lives without the Watchtower or its influence.
Our lives will be what WE make of them; not watchtower.
good luck to you and continued success, Frank
i left about 14 months back and stopped attending meetings cold turkey.
so i haven't seen any jws for ages and for some reason i've never bumped into them at the mall or in town - and i guess that means they haven't seen me either or know what i'm up to.. i was at a cafe with a male friend today, we look like a typical couple that is we're the same age, shop together etc but its purely platonic.
but you know how it is with jw .

just wanted to say hi.
ive been reading the posts for quite sometime now but never actually ever posted.
wanted to thank everyone for the posts and for helping me to break free from the guilt after 20 years of it.
welcome aboard Ticker;
this is a fun group and you should stick around....
Frank
i'm shopping for a new refrigerator and wanted to get your opinions on stainless steel appliances.
i love the look of them - but i've heard it is difficult to keep them looking nice because of fingerprints, etc.. .
i've seen some other finishes that look like stainless steel - they have a sateen coating that doesn't smudge and streak like stainless.
I am a firm believer in white....however my wife is tired of the "white" look. But it is classic....
rather than stainless, we are ordering our new counterdepth ref with a trim kit and will have the cabinet maker install wood panels to match the cabinetry. It is a very popular deal to make the ref look like the cabinets.
last year, a faithful sister passed away in a neighboring cong.
she did have some disfellowshipped relatives............i guess everyone assumed they wouldn't show up.
but they did (which they certainly have every right to do).........and it seemed it caused quite a stir.. one elder, who stayed to visit the family, ended up having to apologize to the entire congregation.
They are so pompous....
when one of my non JW cousins died; another JW ( pompous elder) cousin was asked to say the grave side ceremony.
I attendend with both of my sisters. All of us had been pioneers at one time. The JW cousin said " some of us here will see you again in the resurrection".... it was plainly said to embarass my two sisters and myself. All we could do afterwards was laugh at the pomposity and arrogance of this elder cousin.
He is still an elder.
it's really rough on me!
not to whine, while the czarina is being so brave, but... i'm going to anyway.. i am getting most of the symptoms!
i taste blood in my mouth, i am so scatterbrained i can't think right, my sleep patterns are all over the map!
HAH!
I have been threatened with death ...and she means it

Czar,
you may be interested to know that you can continue to engage in intercourse during the pregnancy ( this may be useful to you); for as long as it is comfortable for your partner.
After all three deliveries of our children; I was given a STERN lecture by my wifes female obstetrician/ gynecologist "NO INTERCOURSE FOR AT LEAST SIX WEEKS AFTER DELIVERY !" ......as if ANYTHING of mine would get ANYEHERE near THAT region without my wifes permission....

i read an article somewhere when i first started studying with the jw's that said that the name jehovah was actually just a hypothesis from a monk in the year 700 or some other thing.. i don't remember if this is correct in the year or where i read it - i read so many things when i first learned what the witnesses were really about.
everything i could get my hands on.. but for some reason i don't know why but calling god jehovah just really bugs me and always makes me think of the witnesses.. does it bother anybody else and do you think if he exists his name really is jehovah?
whyamIhere:
Brooke, you said it all...
if Indiana Jones said it; it must be true! I do believe every word he says! And he knows all about the Ark of the Covenant; also how best effectively to fight Nazis ( wonder if those methods would work on the JWs?).
chuckle, Frank
last night, my cell phone rang and it was a number i didn?t recognize.
i answered, and the voice said, ?is this doug??
and he said, ?this is dd ?
hey doug,
You did the right thing; handling this as cool as you did. I have been in similar situations and handled it as you did. There is always a tempation to tell them all #$%&?! you!
Your old friend did count the time; you can be sure of that.
If it is any consolation; you know he really believes that he is doing gods will.
regards, Frank
